Dr. Karthik Mani, OTD, OTR/L, is a NBCOT-certified occupational therapist who has expertise and experience in treating developmental disabilities (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disability, & Developmental Delay), ergonomic health issues (Back Pain/Neck Pain/Arm Discomfort), neurological dysfunctions (Stroke, TBI), and geriatric dysfunctions (Dementia). He has more than 13 years of experience in the field of occupational therapy (OT).

Dr. Mani obtained his entry-level OT degree from The TN Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai, India and earned his doctoral degree at Chatham University, Pittsburgh, US. He is fluent in Tamil and English. He has numerous publications to his credit.

About Dr. Karthik

Karthik Mani is a certified and licensed occupational therapist who is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and All India Occupational Therapy Association. He has nearly a decade of experience in occupational therapy practice. He is currently serving as an Assistant Director of Credentialing Services in National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), Maryland, USA. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in OT from TN MGR University, Chennai, India and his Master’s degree in psychology from the University of Madras, India. He graduated with his doctorate in occupational therapy from Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA. 

He has extensive experience in treating patients with pediatric and adult neurological dysfunctions, orthopedic dysfunctions, work-related injuries, and mental health dysfunctions. He worked for several corporate Hospitals and Nursing Facilities both in India and in the United states. Currently, he offers Tele-rehab services. 

He served as an Advisory committee member of the Tamil Nadu state branch of All India Occupational Therapy Association. He also served on the simulation question development committee of the NBCOT for two years. He published two books and several articles in therapy newsletters and community magazines.

In-person Consultation Location: Palavakkam, Chennai

Services: Assessment, Consultation, Follow-up Consultation, Parental Education, and Home Program.

Regular therapy services, if required, may be delivered through Telerehab services in which Dr.Karthik will instruct, demonstrate, and guide patients or their caregivers on therapeutic activities. Interventions that require manual handling will not be offered through Tele-rehab services. 

After February 6, 2015

You may consult/follow-up with Dr.Karthik through Tele-rehabilitation services. Consultation summary and treatment instructions will be emailed to you.

Vijaya Occupational Therapy Centre is proud to announce its new service "Tele-rehabilitation".

What is telerehabilitation?

Tele-rehabilitation means delivery of rehabilitation services through telecommunication devices over the internet. 

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) acknowledges the use of telerehabilitation technologies as a recognized and acceptable method of service delivery for many practitioners within the field of health care, particularly for individuals in rural areas where demands for services may exceed the services available (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2010).  

Telerehab specialist Dr.Melanie Criss OTD, OTR/L stated that occupational therapy tele-rehabilitation consultation services resulted in most successful outcomes (Criss, 2013). 

Now you can consult Dr. Karthik Mani MSc, OTR/L, certified and licensed occupational therapist, via tele-rehabilitation.
