Some common pediatric OT interventions delivered in VOTC
Sensory Integration: Interventions to improve the ability to organize sensory information to make an adaptive response.
Fine motor skills intervention: Interventions to improve the ability to handle small pieces of objects and manipulate it. Activities such as cutting, writing, folding, stringing, etc.,
Social skills training: Interventions to improve the ability to interact, comprehend, engage in play, express desires and needs, and to initiate and sustain conversation.
Play therapy: Play is the essential medium to promote socialization, skill development, and to experiment with roles.
Activities of daily living training: Activities of daily living (ADL) refer to our day to day self-care activities such as brushing, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting and so on. The ADL also include daily chores such as washing, cleaning, child care, driving, etc.
Cognitive-perceptual skills training: Cognitive skill is the ability to use higher brain function. Perceptual skill implies organizing sensory input into meaningful patterns.
Transition planning: Interventions to facilitate transitions from school to work.
