About Dr. Karthik Mani


Dr. Karthik Mani, OTD, OTR/L is a certified and licensed occupational therapist, freelance researcher, credentialing specialist, and writer. He is a member of All India Occupational Therapists Association (AIOTA) and American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). He has been in the field of occupational therapy (OT) for nearly 15 years. He is currently working as an Assistant Director of External & Regulatory Affairs at the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), Maryland, United States.
He completed his Bachelors (OT) and Masters (Psy) degrees in India. In 2014, he graduated with his Doctoral degree in OT (OTD) from Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA. His field of interest includes Pediatrics, Neurology, Ergonomics, Global Health, and Mental Health.  In 2016, he completed the Credentialing Specialist certificate program.

His research has been published in national peer-reviewed journals, including The Indian Journal of Occupational Therapy and Work: Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation. He has had 100+ articles, related to the Indian occupational therapy practice, published in the VOTC Therapy Newsletter and in a few Tamil magazines. 

He has presented on various topics including occupational therapy in India, sensory integration, clinical reasoning, evidence based practice, licensure regulations, national certification, and ergonomics. He has served on the advisory committee member of the Tamil Nadu state branch of All India Occupational Therapy Association (TNAIOTA) and on the simulation question development committee (SQDC) of the NBCOT for two years. He is currently serving on the board of the International Chapter of AIOTA.

His publications include two books and several scholarly articles on occupational therapy. He regularly contributes articles to OT newsletters and community magazines.
